Just a quick update while I have a little free time. I spent last weekend in the studio and am happy to say we are pretty much done tracking the debut album. Now it’s on to mixing, editing and mastering. We’ve started to put together a more concrete timeline and I am really really excited to share all that I’ve been working on with YOU. In other news I have plenty of shows coming, so please try and catch me if I’m in your neighborhood. Also, The Live EP is now available for the simple fee of signing up for my email list over at joeyoungmusic.bandcamp.com . I promise I won’t bug you, you’ll just catch occasional updates and whatnot about my goings-ons. Hope you are all doing well.

Much Love,

As you know I’ve been planning on moving down to Rutgers and pursuing a career in Landscape Architecture. Over the past few months I’ve been dwelling on this decision, and its been weighing on me. After much consideration, and all in all soul searching, I can’t do it. Music is in my heart, and I feel as if I’d be doing myself an injustice to not pursue a career in what I love above all. With the way the album is coming together, I have only reaffirmed my love and my confidence in music. So from now on, my attention is 100% yours. I guess it took being on the edge of the cliff to finally jump off (or stay on, for that matter, I guess it depends how you look at it). I think as a singer/songwriter, once the idea of being a musician for a living is inside of you, nothing else could ever fill the void that not being a musician would leave. A lot of people will say; “Why can’t you just do music on the side”, and maybe it’s something only musicians can understand, but if you want this, you have to take it with all you’ve got. To my listeners, thank you so much for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you out at shows.

Here we go.

Changes, and a lot of synonyms for excited

I’m leaving New England in a couple weeks, and I’m sure you’ve noticed my shows have dwindled, but hopefully that will change. I’m going back to school full time at Rutgers starting in September, but I’m not going to let it get in the way of music. I’ve been in the studio over the past few weeks recording full band versions of the songs off the live EP, as well as some new tracks that I’ve written recently that I’m really excited about. The design process for the album and promotional materials is also in full swing. Next weekend I’m filming an interview/ live performance with a couple friends out in Portsmouth, and hopefully will be using some of that material for a video I’ll be using on kickstarter to try and raise enough money to fund the release of the album, so please stay tuned for that. A lot of things are about to happen, and I am so eager for this album to be released. Though I will be in school, I’ll be close to NYC, and I can’t wait to see what opportunities will arise from being in that area. Thank you for reading, listening and supporting.

Much Love,

Each CD is personally hand written, illustrated, numbered, and signed by yours truly. They may not look professional, but I promise you they sound it. All profits will go towards the production and distribution of my debut studio album, which is being tracked this weekend. Thank you all so much. And as always, you can pick up a digital copy of the EP right here: http://joeyoungmusic.bandcamp.com/

Creative Media, engineered the album, which was recorded from a performance at Upstairs at Townsends in Hyde Park, MA. All the images associated with the album come from Maja Jutanda of Maja Jutanda Photography. Thank you everyone, whether you were directly associated with this album or just a fan that has made it to one of my gigs, you make this all possible. I hope you enjoy.

It's late, and I am wide awake

I rarely sleep on Sunday nights, I don’t know what it is, whether I’m reconstructing my past whirlwind weekend or pensive about the upcoming week, my mind never stops racing. I’ve just returned from Boston, where I spent the weekend with family and friends celebrating changes, and of course Mother’s day. I’ve got lot of things going on and coming up, a lot of changes, some good, some bad, but all inspiring. Friday night I stopped into Townsend’s in Hyde Park to play an incredible gig for a whopping total of about a dozen people. I shared the stage, not the bill, the stage, with Rocco DeRosa and Alicia Lemke. It was pretty incredible, just 3 stools, 3 microphones, and 3 strangers. We worked through our sets, playing off each other, it was probably the most enjoyable gigs I’ve ever played. I had my portion recorded, and that is currently in the process of being mixed, I cannot wait to hear the final product. Depending on how I feel about it, I may be releasing it a la EP, so stay tuned for that. This post is poorly written and probably painful to read through, but like I said, that’s how my brain works on Sundays. Hope you’re all doing well, keep listening.
